When writing time to the half hour, the minute hand is at the 6 and the hour hand is between the 2 numbers.  EX: 7:30 - minute hand at 6 and hour hand BETWEEN 7 and 8.  We watched this on our classroom clock at different times today.  I've been trying to get my students to remember that when the minute hand is at the 6 it is half way around the clock, so the hour hand is half way between the hour numbers.  Also, make sure the minute hand covers the 6, and the hour hand is shorter NOT being draw past the numbers. (Yes, I'm very particular about the hands on the clock.)

When writing time to the half hour, the hour hand should be in between the two hour numbers, while the minute hand is on the 6.  For example: 9:30 - The hour hand should be in between 9 and 10.  The minute hand is on the 6.  We're also learning that this time could be read as half past nine.
