Read pages 5 - 14 in the novel. These pages include chapter 1 plus a preceding 'Notes' and 'Reading Pointers' page. Like Treasure Island, this novel has a vocab and glossary section in the back of the book; use it. I created a reading guide to accompany this reading assignment, so use it as well. It's a tough read, but try you best to read it. I'll keep the reading assignments relatively short.
