Elementary Heating Update 12/3/2025, 4:32

I wanted to give an update on the heating issue at Cairnbrook Elementary School. Over the summer, we had three or four contractors coming in here to upgrade the HVAC system at the ELEM with what was supposed to be the fix to the problem.
When the heating season began in late October, we have had our boiler technicians come in to replace multiple parts that we thought were operational, only to then find additional parts and issues with the furnace. We had relied solely on heating oil as our heat source.
This week, we were finally able to operate the coal boiler, which is more cost-efficient, produces more reliable heat, and heats the water that travels to the ELEM school underground for the heat source at the ELEM. The JSHS uses steam heat, and the ELEM uses hot water heat.
The boiler is slowly catching up, as we started the coal boiler late Tuesday, but still did not heat the water that circulates through the ELEM school to be acceptable in terms of degrees.
The Maintenance Director feels confident that our school will be warm tomorrow and we should be fine with the heat moving forward. We still are working with a few contractors to evaluate and diagnose additional issues, as we are committed to finalizing a working solution for the heat system at the ELEM school.
