Mrs. Naret - 1st Grade

Welcome to Mrs. Naret's Class!

"Yes, kids love technology, but they also love Legos, scented markers, handstands, books, and mud puddles.  It's all about balance." - K.G., first-grade teacher

Live Fire Drills - Friday, October 19

The Shade-Central City School District will be conducting live fire drills with the help of the Central City Fire Department on Friday, 10/19/18.  These are live fire drills because the Central City Fire Department will treat it like a live call.  The fire whistle will blow at the fire department.  The fire department will arrive at the school using lights and sirens.  When they arrive, they will conduct a practice search of the school building.  There will be one drill at Cairnbrook Elementary and one drill at Shade High School.

I found this coat in the ball bin in our classroom after everyone left yesterday. It is a 6/6X. None of the girls in my class say it belongs to them. If it does belong to your daughter please contact me, so I can have her bring it home. Thank you!

This is just to remind everyone that the Scholastic Book Order is due on Friday, October 5.  You can send the order form/s to school with a check or you may place an order online using the special class code GT888.  If you already have a Scholastic account from last year, or you created one for a sibling you do not have to create a new one.  All you have to do is link your child to my class using our unique code.  Click here to go to the website.

Unit 1 Spelling HW

Unit 1 Spelling HW was sent home today.  Please read over all of the information carefully.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Spelling homework is due Tuesday, October 16, but if you complete it early, you may send it in.

BoxTops Collection

Our first butterfly emerged from it's chrysalis today. Some of the kids got to see it as it happened this morning. They were so in awe and excited!  Before we release it, we’ll check to see whether it’s a boy or a girl. My hope is that we can send it on it’s way sometime tomorrow.

Superkids Accounts

Emails went out today to those of you who do not have your Superkids Reading account set up.  The email will come from The Superkids Reading Program, not me.  If you did not receive this email, check your junk folder.  If it's not there either, please contact me, so we can work things out.
Follow the instructions in the email to finish setting up your account.
For those of you who already have an active Superkids parent account from kindergarten or a previous child, you WILL NOT receive an email from Superkids to set up an account.  Simply go to, click on School and Parent Login in the upper right-hand corner, and enter your email address and password to log in.
There isn't a whole lot to do there right now because we are still reviewing letters and sounds from kindergarten.  Once we begin the first grade program in about two weeks, you'll have access to the decodable reader, leveled books, Super Duper Magazine, and spelling and memory words games.

Scholastic Book Orders

Just a reminder that the first Scholastic Book Order is due on Friday, September 7.  You can send the order form/s to school with a check or you may place an order online using the special class code GT888.  If you already have a Scholastic account from last year, or you created one for a sibling you do not have to create a new one.  Click here to go to the website.
